Dr. Laura M. Thompson is a distinguished and anointed servant of God whose life and ministry reflect unwavering obedience, faith, and divine purpose. Affirmed by God and committed to fulfilling the call upon her life, she continues to walk faithfully in the course appointed to her. Through divine favor and steadfast devotion, countless lives have been transformed by her ministry.

In 1983, Dr. Thompson embraced the mantle upon her life and answered the call to the Gospel ministry. She served diligently and faithfully under the leadership of Pastor Larry Maddox at New Growth Tabernacle. After a season of committed service and spiritual preparation, she was released into full-time ministry.

​

Overcoming numerous obstacles and guided by the voice of God, Dr. Thompson made history as the first independent female pastor in the Muscle Shoals area. In 1987, with no initial membership but with unwavering faith, she founded Open Door Church Ministries, Inc. Today, the ministry stands as one of the most impactful and thriving churches in the Quad Cities region. Dedicated to cultivating a Spirit of Excellence, Open Door Church serves as a true refuge for the lost, the broken, and those seeking restoration.

Dr. Thompson carries a prophetic mantle with a divine mandate to usher in a fresh move of the Holy Spirit. She is called to release proverbial truths like firmly embedded nails for the mastering of assemblies. Endowed with wisdom and spiritual insight, she serves as a spiritual mother in Zion, nurturing and equipping believers to reach their fullest potential.

The vision God entrusted to Dr. Thompson for Open Door Church Ministries is known as “A Ray of Hope.” Under this vision, numerous outreach initiatives operate with excellence and impact. These include:

• Operation Breadbasket and Operation Recycle, outreach ministries dedicated to feeding and clothing individuals both naturally and spiritually. Through mentorship and empowerment, Operation Recycle has successfully helped many individuals gain employment and reenter the workforce.
   

• Victory in the Word Media Ministry, designed to edify, educate, and empower the Body of Christ through various media platforms.
   

• Jesus Is More Powerful International Fellowship of Churches & Ministries, which provides covering and leadership to over forty churches, ministries, and organizations throughout the United States and internationally, including Africa and Australia.
   

Her conferences, crusades, concerts, publications, and outreach initiatives are administered under the umbrella of Laura Thompson Ministries International, Inc., a duly recognized 501(c)(3) organization.

In addition to her pastoral and apostolic leadership, Dr. Thompson is a successful entrepreneur. She has founded and led several business ventures, including Jesus Is More Powerful Productions, Kids Just Like Us Daycare, Cleanliness Is Godliness Janitorial Service, and Array’s Apparel. Through these enterprises, she demonstrates how faith and business excellence can harmoniously coexist.

In 2002, she launched an Economic and Development ministry known as C.O.R.E. (Christ Organized Relationships Emphasized). This initiative emphasizes the importance of cultivating Christ-centered leadership relationships within the Body of Christ, empowering leaders to maximize their potential and pursue excellence in ministry.

Dr. Thompson is also affiliated with the International Coalition Apostolic Network (I.C.A.N.) under the leadership of Apostle Antoine Hawkins of Los Angeles, California.

In every dimension of ministry she enters, her desire is that God would increase both naturally and spiritually. She stands firmly on the promise that God will add to His Kingdom according to His will.

She has been happily married for over 51 years to Mr. Marvin D. Thompson. She is the proud mother of two adult daughters, a beloved son-in-love, and the cherished grandmother of four grandsons and two granddaughters.
